67th National Film Awards 2019: Asuran to Viswasam, Tamil movies that won | Tamil Movie News

Tamil films struck it rich at the 67th National Awards, which were announced today. On the whole, Kollywood bagged a total of 7 awards, which included the Best Actor award for Dhanush (shared with Manoj Bajpayee) for his superb performance as a father trying to save his son in Vetri Maaran’s action drama Asuran, which was also adjudged the Best Tamil Film.

Vijay Sethupathi won the Best Supporting Actor award for his moving portrayal of a trans person in Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe. This is the first National Award for the talented actor.

There was more delight for Kollywood in the form of the Best Music award, which went to D Imman for his popular songs in the Ajith Kumar-starrer Viswasam. Radhakrishnan Parthiban’s experimental Oththa Seruppu Size 7 won the Special Jury Award and also got its sound designer, the Oscar-winning Resul Pookutty the Best Audiography award.

Naga Vishal bagged the Best Child Actor award for his charming performance in Madhumita’s feel-good drama K.D. (@) Karuppu Durai. Chennai-based choreographer Raju Sundaram also figured among the winners, as he won the Best Choreographer award for his work in Mahesh Babu’s Telugu film Maharishi.
