Kannada cinema has produced many good films which have always remembered by the audience. Some movies were better known for their music and some with hard-hitting action and performance by the leading actors.

But apart from all this, there are several films in Kannada which are better known for their brilliant stories. In other words, those are the films which not only have brilliant performances by the actors but also have an amazing storyline in such a way that the content of the film has proved to be the ‘hero’. We are listing out some selected movies which can be remembered by the audience at all time for their good stories.

Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu : Released in 1974, this Kannada film is deemed to be a landmark in Kannada cinema. Looking at the film even a south Indian film star Kamal Hassan has felt, “It was done on a scale that only big Hollywood directors would think of”. The story of the film is based on the short story collection Vayyari was written by Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar and deals with the interdependence, rivalries,  love, and care between communities in a village. The story of the film has perfectly shown by the director S. Siddalingaiah. Vishnuvardhan, Lokesh has acted in leading roles.   

Sampathige Savaal: This film is considered to be one of the evergreen super-hit films of Kannada cinema. The story of the film revolves around a poor man striving for the welfare of his village and facing many obstacles put forth by evil and rich land lord of the village. The film was released in 1974 and stars Dr. Rajukumar in the leading role. This film was later remade into Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages.

School Master: Another brilliant film with heart touching storyline. In a way, the story of the film has initiated debates about social realism, universal education, dowry, and problems of retired life which are still relevant to this day. It was the first Kannada film which ran for 25 weeks. The film was released in 1958 and stars B.R. Panthulu, Udayakumar, Sivaji Ganeshan, and B.Saroja Devi in lead roles. In later years the film was remade into many other languages.  

Bangarada Manushya : In 1972 and 1973, if many people left their city jobs and went back to their villages to pursue agriculture then credit for this transformation should be given to this film. Released in 1972 this film stars Dr.Rajkumar in a leading role. The way the story of this film carried the emotions of lower-middle-class family and motivated the audience for life is truly inspiring.  

Eddelu Manjunatha : This movie was released in 2009 and stars Jaggesh. It is considered to be one of the most entertaining movies of Kannada with an amazing storyline narrated with punching comedy dialogues and a serious message to society. The story revolves around the world’s laziest man and his unique reasons to postpone the events of life.  

RangiTaranga : This film was released in 2015 and was directed by Anup Bhandari. It features debutants Nirup Bhandari, Radhika Chetan, Avantika Shetty. Saikumar can also be seen in an important role. The story of film revolves around mysterious events unfolding when a novelist and his wife move back to their ancestral village.    

Ulidavaru Kandanthe : It was released in 2014 and stars Rakshite Shetty in the lead role. Other important supporting roles have been played by Kishor, Tara, Achyut Kumar and Rishab Shetty. The story of the film involves an anthology of five different stories connected to an incident of a person’s murder and each character narrating it in its own perspective.

Though there are many good Kannada films with the best stories available but, these are some of the finest films which have left their impression among the audience and is difficult to forget.
