National-Award winning actor Dhanush’s renowned films
Over the years Dhanush has turned out to be one actor who has broken lots of stereotypes in the Tamil Cinema and has achieved a world-class standard in terms of performance-oriented, character-oriented commercial films. His awards and achievements so far are themselves proof of his credibilities. He recently won the 67th National Award for Best Actor for his movie Asuran.
Dhanush’s debut film Thulluvadho Ilamai, directed by Selvaraghavan was fresh with a young and talented cast. But, the movie failed to bring in big numbers at the box office. But the Selva-Dhanush duo kept on making the second film which was a very big hit that gave recognition to both Dhanush as well as the director, Kaadhal Konden. It went on to become the biggest hits in the early days for Dhanush. On a personal note too, ‘ it was a close-to-heart film for the family.’
As the saying goes “winning once will always be considered as luck, a continuous win will only be appreciated,” Dhanush had his next big hit with Thiruda Thirudi. The song Manmatha Rasaa was the most popular song of those days and the movie caught the attention of college-goers.
After this came a few flops working with new directors and Dhanush had to go back to his beloved brother Selva again to craft his biggest hit, the cult film Pudhu Pettai. The Tamil movie is celebrated even now for the rawness it has and the masterpiece it is. Yuvan scored the music for the film and its no doubt that this film moved Dhanush a step ahead to become an actor of this level. Thanks to Selva for finding an even fine-tuned Actor Dhanush every time he needed it.
From there on it was always a success for Dhanush, having a separate fan base for him. Then happened this magical combo that has become the biggest part of Dhanush’s Film career. The ‘Vetri’ combo.
For the first time, Dhanush and director Vetrimaaran joined hands it was never expected to become a combo of this level. Their film Polladhavan was a big hit in the box office with collecting 17 crores, also giving a start to Vetri’s film career.
Though Dhanush had hits like Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Padikkathavan, and few others, his next big hit was again with his favorite director Vetrimaran. The film Aadukalam bagged two national awards at the 58th National Awards. This was the film that increased the fan base of Dhanush.
After a gap again, Dhanush’s Mayakkam Enna and his film 3 gave the actor wide recognition with his song Why this Kolaveri song going viral on the internet. Dhanush made his Hindi debut with Raanjhanaa, which scored well at the box office and made him a Pan-India star.
Later Dhanush went to do few films and saw his next big hit for his 25th film Velaiyilla Pattathari which broke records all over South India to be an official Blockbuster for Dhanush after a long gap. The movie was focused on the life of a middle-class jobless youth which connected well along with the mother sentiments got dubbed in various other languages.
After working in a few more projects, he tasted his big success once again with Vetrimaaran, for their dream project Vada Chennai. The film boasted of a strong cast, made with a budget of 65 crores, and ended up making 250 crores.
And now, his recent National Award-winning film Asuran is making all the noise.
Dhanush has many big films in his pipeline, which are surely going to break more records and earn more recognition.
