Over the past year, you might have seen everything on YouTube, NetFlix and Hulu combined. Okay, let’s say half of those. Still it’s just about time to change the scenery.
So how about this for a fun weekend getaway? A movie and dinner on a boat cruising San Diego Bay?
San Diego’s open-air cinema and dining experience is on every Friday and Sunday through the month of April. Originally launched last fall in response to the demand for original, socially distanced events, the night out includes an all-in-one package of fun movies, designer cocktails and cuisines and memorable views of San Diego beaches.
Whether a family friendly outing, a unique date night inspiration, or a get-together with friends, Hornblower’s signature Sapphire Sky Deck might be the place to be one weekend this month,
The large upper deck is fully open-air, and offers 360-degree views of the Bay and the lights of the city with more than enough room on board for everyone to stay safely apart while enjoying the movie.
Here’s the schedule so far. Hey, look, your favorite movie is coming up!
Friday, April 9: La La Land (PG-13)
Sunday, April 11: Goonies (PG)
Friday, April 16: Zoolander (PG-13)
Sunday, April 18: Spider-Man: Homecoming (PG-13)
Friday, April 23: Mean Girls (PG-13)
Sunday, April 25: Field of Dreams (PG)
Friday, April 30: Tootsie (PG)
Movies are shown on an ultra-large screen with audio provided through external speakers or guests can tune into the Hornblower App, and use their own headphones.
Wait, did we say dinner and a movie? Yes we did.
The special movie night menu features an array of dishes from Short Rib Pot Pie, to Lobster Roll and Chicken Kabobs, with a variety of appetizers and desserts. All can be enjoyed with a range of wines, beers and cocktails.
If you’re concerned about distancing, there are provisions in place to assuage those worries. Hornblower has expanded its SafeCruise by Hornblower program.
Mandatory daily crew member health screening and wearing of appropriate PPE.
Revised boarding and ticketing procedures to allow for social distancing and touchless entry.
Requiring guests to wear face masks while cruising, except while eating and drinking.
Reducing the number of guests on board, and adapting all seating and table spacing to allow for a minimum 6-foot distance between guests.
Implementing enhanced sanitation and disinfection procedures, with hand sanitizing stations available throughout the vessel.
Due to current capacity restrictions, numbers aboard are strictly limited. Tickets are on sale now ator at (855)253-7943.
