ASUS is all set to launch the Zenfone 8 series smartphones on May 12th. The Zenfone 8 lineup is supposed to consists of three devices – the vanilla Zenfone 8, Zenfone 8 Pro, and the Zenfone 8 Mini. In the past few days, we have already have learned few specifications of these devices, thanks to benchmark listing and certification leaks. Now, ahead of May 12th global release, the Zenfone 8 Pro has cleared the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification. With the BIS certification being availed to the Zenfone 8 Pro, we can expect the device to debut in the Indian market in the upcoming few weeks.
ASUS Zenfone 8 Pro Spotted in BIS Certification
The ASUS smartphone that has appeared in the BIS certification (Via: @_the_tech_guy) database carries a model number as ASUS_I007D. This model is believed to launch as the Zenfone 8 Pro. As mentioned above, the Zenfone 8 lineup is set to go official on May 12th globally. However, as of now, ASUS has not confirmed the launch of these handsets in India. Now, that the Zenfone 8 Pro has appeared in the BIS certification, we can expect the phone to launch in the Indian market. The complete specifications of the pro model are not known as of now. However, some previous reports hint that the Zenfone 8 Pro will sport a 120Hz OLED display, and it will be powered by Snapdragon 888 chipset.
If we go by the teaser revealed by ASUS recently, the Zenfone 8 vanilla model is supposed to get rid of the flip camera that we saw in the Zenfone 6 and 7 series. The Zenfone 8 will be featuring a punch-hole display, as per the teaser revealed by the Taiwanese smartphone maker. However, it’s worth noting that there could be a Zenfone 8 flip moniker in the pipeline as well, considering that this particular device was mentioned in the AR core listing. The Zenfone 8 Flip might actually come with a flip camera mechanism similar to that we saw in the previous Zenfone lineup.
Speaking about the Zenfone 8 Mini, it is rumoured to sport a 5.92-inch OLED FHD+ display that might offer a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the smartphone might be powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC. The phone is expected to ship with 16GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage. As far as the optics details of the handset go, it might feature a 64MP primary camera. The whole package might draw power from a 4000mAh battery that could offer 30W fast-charging support. Connectivity-wise the smartphone might offer 5G support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. We should get to learn more details of the Zenfone 8 lineup when it goes official on May 12.
