Chennai: More and more people are now coming forward in the city to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the Chennai Corporation’s data. Reports suggest that 35747 were vaccinated across 15 ones of the corporation and that the city crossed five lakh vaccinations on Wednesday.
An official, while speaking to the media about the vaccination process, said that Chennai has now reached the maximum vaccination in the entire nation with 6.5 per cent of the total city population of 80 lakh having been vaccinated.
An official also said that initially, people were scared of getting the vaccine because of unfounded rumors but now since the coronavirus caseload is getting bigger, more and more people are willing to have the vaccine dose and have ben enquiring about the availability and where they can get the vaccination dose.
In some zones, the people from the IT sector have been willing to get the doses for themselves and their family members in private hospitals, even if they have to pay extra for the dose. The officials said that they have to leave to each one’s choice.
However, Chennai’s increasing coronavirus numbers has brought bak the experts’ focus on the crowds that have started resurfacing in public places. Experts have also said that people have fallen into a ‘Covid fatigue’ and are therefore not complying with the coronavirus rules and regulations anymore – which is why the numbers have been increasing.
