Couple says Gordon Ramsay turned their wedding into a ‘nightmare’

Published

A UK couple said Gordon Ramsay turned their dream beach wedding turned into “a complete kitchen nightmare” — after the celebrity chef took over the private resort to film his TV show.

Charlie Willis, 35, and his then-bride Laura, 29, told The Sun that they expected a private ceremony and gourmet meal when they paid $1,800 for their nuptials at the exclusive Lusty Glaze Beach venue in Cornwall last month.

Charlie Willis and his wife, Laura said that they felt like "extras on a game show" once Gordon Ramsay started filming at the Cornwall venue on their wedding day.

But their special day was instead “gatecrashed” by Ramsay and his crew filming his new TV show, “Future Food Stars” — with the chef also taking over the kitchen, leaving the wedding party with a “cheap and nasty” meal despite it costing $70-a-head, they told The Sun.

“The whole thing was a complete kitchen nightmare,” the groom told the UK paper. “We had both worked so hard to save for that day and we felt like extras on a game show,” Willis said.

Ramsay’s executive producer, Sharon Powers, wrote to the newlyweds to apologize — and paid for their ruined wedding.

“I am mortified that we affected your special day and I can assure you that it was never our intention to upset you or your guests,” Powers’ letter said, according to The Sun.

“As you are aware, we have now paid for your wedding in full, which I hope goes some way towards making amends and acknowledging how sorry I am that your special day was affected, albeit unintentionally, by us.”

A spokesman for the Lusty Glaze private beach blamed “very unusual” circumstances for the problem — but told The Sun that the wedding party had not secured exclusive use of the beach.

Ramsay’s spokesperson insisted to the Daily Mail that “there was no gate crashing.”

A spokesperson for Gordon Ramsay (seen filming 'Gordon Ramsay's Future Food Stars') said that the couple should not still be complaining, considering they got to talk with the celebrity chef and the show's producers footed the bill for the wedding.

“Studio Ramsay [was] booked to film on the beach the same day as various weddings and events were taking place,” the spokesperson said.

“It’s a real shame this couple are still complaining. Their bill was generously covered, they happily chatted with Gordon on the day, they didn’t have exclusive use of the beach and all the other beachgoers had a really great time joining in on & off camera,” Ramsay’s rep insisted.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will bring back more familiar faces to the precinct in season 23.

TVLine reports that fan-favourite cast member Donal Logue will be returning to SVU for a January 22 episode as hard-nosed NYPD lieutenant Declan G Murphy.

Murphy is fresh off a two-year stint going deep undercover for a case and returns to the Special Victims Unit with a crucial request for his old colleague Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

The two will join forces on high-priority hate crime cases that will also bring back NYPD sergeant Hasim Khaldun (Ari’el Stachel) as they search for who’s behind the sick crimes.

The sudden reappearance of Khaldun and Murphy could cause some complications for the hate crime investigation because they both have romantic ties to Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish).

Murphy learned he’s the father of Rollins’ daughter Jesse shortly before he had to leave the precinct in 2015, while Khaldun had a connection with her while they worked undercover a few years back.

This season has already featured several nods back through the Law & Order franchise, including a special appearance from Dann Florek reprising his Law & Order homicide captain Donald Cragen.

Detective Nick Amaro (Danny Pino) popped up to reopen a cold case in October, while district attorney Rafael Barba (Raúl Esparza) intervened in the trial of crime boss Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott).

NBC has announced a crossover event with Law & Order: Organized Crime next Thursday (December 9) where Benson and Stabler desperately search for Eli Stabler while Wheatley goes on trial.

Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays on NBC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness in the UK, with select episodes available on NOW.

Ed Sheeran & Elton John Reveal ‘Merry Christmas’ Duet Release Date – Billboard

Published

on

Ed Sheeran and Elton John are teaming up to give fans a new holiday song for their festive playlists.

After teasing the release of Christmas music, the English musicians announced Monday (Nov. 29) that their new song “Merry Christmas” will be released on Friday. In addition, the duo revealed in a joint Instagram post that all U.K. profits from the song this holiday season will go to the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The post features a video of Sheeran doing his best Love Actually impression, borrowing the famous scene where Andrew Lincoln’s Mark silently professes his love to Keira Knightley’s Juliet with romantic cue cards. This time, though, Sheeran is just announcing his and John’s “Merry Christmas” song.

The pair posted a second joint post, in which John and Sheeran shared a sneak peek of the corresponding video for the track, which contained a short snippet of the song. “Filled up with so much love/ All our family and friends are together where we all belong/ Merry Christmas, everyone,” the 71- and 30-year-old are heard singing. “This was an absolute blast! Our music video for ‘Merry Christmas’ is coming this Friday,” they captioned the post.

During Sheeran’s Nov. 8 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he revealed that John, who recently released a hit collaborative album The Lockdown Sessions, pitched him a Christmas duet idea. The collaborators would later go on to write three Christmas songs together.

“I’ve always been quite against it,” Sheeran recalled. “Not that I don’t like Christmas, I love Christmas, but in terms of doing a Christmas song, you need to chuck the kitchen sink at it.”

John already has a holiday hit under his belt: “Step Into Christmas” topped Billboard‘s Christmas Singles chart in 1973 and also hit the top 10 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart that same year.
