He will plays real-life Scottish psychiatrist R. D Laing in the film who was seen as a mental health pioneer, specialising in psychosis.
The film will be screened at the Glasgow Film Theatre tonight.
And the star has revealed he is raring to have another go at Top Gear – hoping that this time he won’t prang his car.
The former Doctor Who star will appear on the BBC show’s test track when the hit car show returns for its 24th series next month.
Tennant’s appearance will air on BBC Two on March 12.
The Bathgate-born actor will be joined on screen by hosts Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid.
Tennant, 45, first appeared on the show in 2007 when he famously broke the gear box on the speed lap car.
But not all fans will miss out as Tennant is set to return to our screens in new series of Broadchurch on February 27.
The new series of Top Gear begins on March 5 with guest celebrity James McAvoy.
