Film industry agrees to abide by 15-day curfew in Maharashtra; asks CM to extend same financial help to its daily wage workers as promised to rickshaw drivers | Hindi Movie News

The coordination committee of the film industry has agreed to support and abide by the 15-day curfew rules put into place by the Maharashtra Chief Minister in his address to the state on Tuesday evening. However, it comes with a rider. The industry wants the government to extend the same financial help to daily wage workers of the industry as the CM has promised for construction workers and rickshaw drivers.

Ashok Dubey of the FWICE said, “We are going to follow the curfew and therefore all shootings will be put on hold till April 30. But we would want the government to financially help our daily wage workers, We have the entire list with account numbers which we can share with the government. The daily wagers of the industry are first to get hit once a shooting stops or is on hold. We don’t want another exodus scenario and therefore request the CM to help our industry workers too like he is helping in the other sectors”.

Uddhav Thackeray, on Tuesday, had announced that the real estate sector will be allowed to function on the condition that construction workers can stay on-site and work. Ashok added, “We would want the government to allow us to complete the construction of the sets that are under construction we will make sure that our setting workers stay at the location till the completion and follow Covid appropriate norms too.”

When prodded about the plan of action in case the restrictions are extended beyond 15 days, Ashok replied, “We are worried about that, therefore, like the IPL which is allowed to continue in a bio-bubble, we will be writing to the CM for the same permission.”
