Our first look at upcomingmovie Stowaway is here, featuring Anna Kendrick, and star Daniel Dae Kim, and ‘s Toni Collette.
The sci-fi thriller, which is set to premiere on Netflix next month, follows a team of three as they head on a two-year mission to Mars. What they don’t know, however, is that there’s a fourth member onboard – an unexpected stowaway.
Anna Kendrick plays medical researcher Zoe, while Collette takes on the role of the ship’s commander. Daniel Dae Kim is the resident biologist, while Shamier Anderson completes the intimate line-up as the accidental stowaway.
Anderson’s character is discovered shortly into the team’s mission, but with the small spacecraft outfitted only to support three passengers, its life support systems and the fabric of the team face potentially irreparable damage.
Opening up about Stowaway‘s story, Kendrick toldthat she joined the movie after being drawn in by director Joe Penna and Ryan Morrison’s pared-down script. “It was so simple and so lean, but totally compelling,” she said.
“I had never really read anything like it,” Collette agreed. “It is contained and the characters are confined but the questions posed, moral and otherwise, are vast and wide open.”
Pointing out the thriller’s surprise relatability, she added: “It’s ultimately about community, survival, and sacrifice. Who can’t relate to that at the moment?”
Stowaway will premiere on Netflix on Monday, April 22.
