FORMER Doctor Who star David Tennant will time travel to Scotland for the world premiere of his new movie.
The 45-year-old Paisley-born actor has confirmed he will appear on the red carpet for Mad To Be Normal to bring the curtain down on the Glasgow Film Festival on February 26.
Tennant plays the real-life Scottish psychiatrist R. D Laing in the film who was seen as a mental health pioneer, specialising in psychosis.
The movie – to be screened at Glasgow Film Theatre – also features an all-star cast Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) Tennant’s Harry Potter co-star Michael Gambon and The Usual Suspects legend Gabriel Byrne.
Glasgow’s 13th Film Festival will open on February 15 with the European premiere of coming-of-age story, Handsome Devil, starring Sherlock and Spectre actor Andrew Scott.
Festival Co-Director Allison Gardner said: “I am so excited to share the news about our great Opening and Closing Galas.
“Handsome Devil is a real crowd pleaser with a joyous spirit that makes it a perfect film to launch the festival.
“David Tennant gives an absolutely stunning performance as R.D. Laing in Mad To Be Normal and it seems only fitting that Glasgow should have the honour of hosting the premiere of a film about one of the city’s most complex, charismatic figures.”
Tickets for the galas go on sale at 10am this Monday January 9. For more info glasgowfilm.org/festival
