Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has extended aid to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after he announced testing positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Taking a veiled dig at Gandhi, Vij said that if the Congress MP finds it difficult to find space in Delhi, he can come to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Haryana for better treatment.
“The day COVID-19 started, Rahul Gandhi has been passing various statements. Now he has tested positive for COVID-19. If he finds difficulty in getting space in Delhi, he can come to Haryana. We will give him better treatment,” news agency ANI quoted Vij as saying.
Earlier today Gandhi said that the Centre’s plan to vaccinate people above 18 years of age is not a “distribution strategy but a vaccine discrimination”. He said that there are no free vaccines for those between 18 to 45 years of age and neither is there is a vaccine guarantee for weaker sections in the Centre’s third vaccination drive.
“• No free vaccines for 18-45 yr olds.
• Middlemen brought in without price controls.
• No vaccine guarantee for weaker sections. GOI’s Vaccine Discrimination- Not Distribution- Strategy!,” Gandhi tweeted.
He also informed testing positive for coronvirus later. “After experiencing mild symptoms, I’ve just tested positive for COVID. All those who’ve been in contact with me recently, please follow all safety protocols and stay safe,” Gandhi tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and several wished speedy recovery to the Lok Sabha MP. “I pray for the good health and quick recovery of Lok Sabha MP Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji,” PM Modi tweeted.
Notably, Vij has himself been infected with Covid-19 and that too after he had taken the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin. He received his treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
