Letter: Build venue for music, arts

I have been reading the articles that discuss Vancouver and the building of a performing arts center. It looks like there are two groups – one being led by the city and Vancouver Public Schools, and one by the Southwest Washington Center for the Arts.

One vision is to build a small arts center for arts, crafts and music performances. The other is a much greater vision with a major cost that would provide a hall for up to 1,200 seats and would house the Vancouver Symphony, touring shows and other events.

In my view it is time for Vancouver to have a similar vision to what it did when the waterfront development dream was started in the 1990s, and think big. The cost of a new hall is projected to be at least $30 million. We can do it with private investment. Our community is deserving of a first-class music and arts venue for all to enjoy.
