LUNCHOshada Fernando and Lahiru Thirimanne have helped Sri Lanka to 67 for 1 at Lunch, reducing the first innings deficit to 35 runs. Their partnership has paved the foundation for Sri Lanka’s fightback in this Test.

FIFTY PARTNERSHIP Oshada Fernando being on the aggressive and Lahiru Thirimanne resorting to some run-scoring shots has allowed Sri Lanka to pick their scoring rate in the second half of the morning session as also bring up the half-century partnership for the second wicket.

After bowling out the visitors for 169 in the first innings, the hosts went to stumps on 268 for 8, taking a 99-run lead with two wickets in hand, courtesy an unbeaten 60 by Rakheem Cornwall. John Campbell, Kyle Mayers and Joshua Da Silva also played useful hands but none of them could register a half-century despite reaching the 40s. Suranga Lakmal was the pick of the bowlers, returning a fifer.
