With the lack of new Hollywood movies due to COVID-19, Emagine Entertainment in Royal Oak is taking matters into their own hands with live events in their auditoriums.
Emagine and Litchfield Productions have teamed up to create “,” according to a press release. Live events will be hosted featuring local, regional and national artists starting Friday, April 9.
A variety of live entertainment options will be available, with music acts, DJ’s and comedians each week.
“We had done a handful of live events over the years at Emagine, nothing substantive,” said Anthony LaVerde, CEO of Emagine entertainment. “With the delay in Hollywood releasing new films, we just thought it was a natural use of our facilities, our beautiful auditoriums, to host live events … especially with small to mid-sized venues still closed down and these artists having nowhere to earn their income or play, so we thought it was a natural win win for both the artists and Emagine.”
Each show will be ticketed separately. Seating will be spaced to follow current COVID-19 mandates, according to the release. Seating options include a private box for up to 15 people, luxury recliners, high top tables and chairs or main floor seats. Each option available at different prices.
“We’re planning to make April a pretty busy month, upwards of 20 separate events,” LaVerde said. “Then as Hollywood ramps up releasing new films, we’ll do it more as a special occasion but we certainly continue to believe that the best thing Emagine can do for its business is to continue to show alternative content and provide our guests new experiences, and this is just one of the many initiatives we’ll be working on over the next year.”
Events will start in the Royal Oak location, and depending on demand, arrangements will possibly be made to include artists at venues across the United States. The live experience will feature all of the favorite amenities that are popular among guests, including interactive lighting, leading AV technology and a full bar with enhanced concessions.
The theater will enforce all of the, including social distancing and mask wearing guidelines throughout each event.
The auditorium holds 255 people, according to LaVerde. Emagine is limiting the capacity to a crowd of 125 people.
On April 9th, Ann Arbor native and Season 10 finalist of NBC’s The Voice, Laith Al-Saadi, will be kickstarting the live events at 8 p.m., according to the release. Laith will be performing his authentic blend of blues, soul and classic rock. Tickets for this event will start at $70.
The following Saturday, April 10, Comedian Spencer James will perform live at 10:00 p.m. Tickets start at $15.
More shows and tickets can be found at. Additional events and showtimes will be released on a weekly basis.
