The gorgeous open-world action-adventure game ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ is being adapted into a live-action movie, and you know the samurai warrior’s katana combat would be aesthetic and intense when Chad Stahelski of John Wick franchise fame .
The PS4 exclusive, developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, has been both a critical and commercial success, selling more than 6.5 million copies since its July 2020 debut.
The third-person action-adventure title is set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274. The game follows the exploits of Jin Sakai, the last surviving member of his clan, who takes it upon himself to free the island of Tsushima. Sakai strictly adheres to the samurai code of honour but struggles with his morals and methods along the way as his situation grows increasingly desperate.
The ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ incorporates beautiful graphics, and takes elements from classic samurai movies and films by Akira Kurosawa. And like other AAA titles, it’s got several unique details and small touches that really bring the story to life.
Three Movies, Seven TV Shows Based on PS Games in Development
A couple of years ago in May, Sony, an in-house studio that would leverage Sony’s mammoth video game library to develop movies and TV shows. Think of it as like what Marvel and DC did with their world of comic books.
It’s been a tough year for movies & theaters withdelaying nearly all of its big releases until 2021.

Now, in December 2020, Sony that there are three films and seven TV series based on its PlayStation video games in some stage of development. The ‘Uncharted’ series, which stars Tom Holland as treasure hunter Nathan Drake, is currently in post-production and set to be released on February 11, 2022.
Sony is also working on a TV adaptation of the post-apocalyptic blockbuster ‘The Last of Us’ for HBO, with the game’s director working closely with the showrunner Craig Mazin (Chernobyl).
The TV stars The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey, known for her role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, as Ellie. HBO announced The Last of Us TV show on March 6, 2020, suggesting a late 2021 release date.
Among other PlayStation video game adaptations known to be in development are the Metal Gear Solid movie, which is being written and directed by Derek Connolly and Jordan Vogt-Roberts of Kong: Skull Island fame.
