Public Health to Respond Tomorrow to Call to Loosen COVID Restrictions in Province

Public Health will respond tomorrow to calls to loosen COVID restrictions immediately.

Many agree with the St. John’s Board of Trade’s call to move the entire province to Alert Level 2 “without delay.”

As of yesterday, active COVID cases in Newfoundland and Labrador had dropped to four.

Just over half of the respondents to the VOCM Question of the Day agree it’s time to move back to Alert Level 2.

Board of Trade President AnnMarie Boudreau says the business community will do whatever Public Health advises, but she suggests that unless the data is presented to back up a more cautious approach, businesses would like to see things open more broadly.

The province has fewer active cases than it did previously under Alert Level 2 says Boudreau.

Dr. Janice Fitzgerald will answer questions from the media at tomorrow’s briefing, which will be carried live on VOCM starting at 2 p.m.
