Sanford Health surprises a select group of frontline workers with all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville

“All the doctors I work with are there, and I’m like, ‘Wow, we really must’ve done something bad then if everybody’s here,’” Jacobson said.

In a different part of the hospital, Sanford executives made special deliveries, including one to Irosha Banagala, a nutrition specialist.

“I was given a suitcase with all this stuff inside, and I had no idea what was going on,” Banagala said.

The two later learned they’d be Sanford ambassadors, and part of a special trip to Nashville, Tennessee.

The ambassadors took in most of what the Music City had to offer – restaurants, bowling, and even a tour of the Grand Ole Opry.

As they sat down in the first few rows, a bigger surprise was waiting behind the curtain. Lead singer of Lady A, Hillary Scott shared her appreciation for each frontline worker in the audience.

“To be able to really celebrate true heroes in such a difficult year is special for us,” Scott said.

As Lady A treated the heroes with a special song, the ambassadors said it reminded them of why they do what they do.

“I always want to change the world, but to change the world, you need to find the right place and right people,” Banagala said.

Even though they’re still fighting off the pandemic, Lady A reminded each worker that the pandemic isn’t forever.

According to Sanford, the song Lady A sang for the workers, will be on country radio stations later this year.
