The Suicide Squad Director James Gunn Reveals Brand New Image of Task Force X Undercover

One of the many moments from the first trailer for The Suicide Squad that captivated fans attention was the clear dance sequence from the movie. It’s unclear just how this moment fits into the larger narrative of the movie, and even the plans of the team whose entire group knows they could die at a moment’s notice, but now we might have a little bit of context. Writer/director James Gunn took to Twitter to reveal a new image from the upcoming film, showing off the cast in disguise in what is clearly the location where the dancing takes place. Check it out below!

Included in the image is Idris Elba as Bloodsport, himself sporting a dapper jacket for a tennis club and a beret; David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, wearing an ensemble with precisely zero polka-dots; Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2 in a rat-free dress; and Peter Capaldi as the Thinker complete with Hawaiian shirt and his crazy headgear. Other cast members in the film have started to tweet their reactions to having seen the movie with Storm Reid tweeting: “Y’all ain’t ready;” and Flula Borg adding: “My Brains and Heart could not handle the DOPENESS.”

Though we’re still months away from the release, work on The Suicide Squad has been completed for some time. Gunn confirmed they were finished with post-production back in April.

“It is unusual, but I always planned to have it done by now,” Gunn said. “What’s more unusual is that we didn’t do a single shot of pickups or any post production shooting. Outside of Chris Nolan, that almost never happens, if at all, on tentpole superhero films….There’s nothing left to do other than me looking at marketing & toys, doing publicity & waiting for the world to heal just a little more so a larger number of people can see it safely in theaters, where it is intended to be seen.”

The Suicide Squad will see the return of Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang from 2016’s Suicide Squad. Other cast members include Sylvester Stallone as King Shark, John Cena as Peacemaker, Nathan Fillion as T.D.K., Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Flula Borg as Javelin, Mayling Ng as Mongal, Michael Rooker as Savant, Alice Braga as Sol Soria, and Sean Gunn as Weasel.

The Suicide Squad releases in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6.

Howe was in the dugout for the first time as Newcastle United’s head coach on Saturday.

The 43-year-old was able to link up with the squad for the fixture against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, which Newcastle lost 2-0, after testing negative for Covid-19 – a week after a positive test saw him miss the home game against Brentford, the first since his appointment.

Assistant Jason Tindall had revealed before the game that Howe, having to isolate in a hotel room, had been struggling earlier in the week.

“He’s feeling a lot better now compared to the early part of the week,” said Tindall.

Howe watched every training session and spoke to Tindall several times a day over the course of the week. He’s now looking forward to working on the pitch with his players ahead of hugely-important home games against Norwich City and Burnley.

Asked about the week, Howe said: “Very difficult, I think. The whole of last week was tough, really, in terms of missing the game.

“It was very difficult not to be with the players and the supporters in the first game, and then not being in training this week was, again, very tough for me.

“I really want to imprint myself on to the players. I’ve not had that opportunity in the second week, but it was what it was. The players and staff were very good in my absence. I watched training back, but just wasn’t there to deliver it.”

Newcastle were beaten by second-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli at the Emirates Stadium, where Callum Wilson had a penalty claim waved away.

Reflecting on the game, Howe said: “For us, I thought the first third was very good, the middle third not so good, and the final third very good.

“I thought we probably, just after half-time and just before half-time, came under a bit of pressure. I thought Arsenal played well in that period of the game.

“The key moment has to be Callum Wilson going through one-on-one, a chance to equalise. The penalty’s not given. I’ve not seen it again, I’m only going by my live reaction. I don’t know why Callum would not go down there if he’s not fouled.”

“They changed the character to suit me”

Ma Dong-seok has opened up about how he ended up being cast in the latest Marvel film, Eternals.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone Korea, the Korean-American actor – known for roles in South Korean movies such as Train To Busan, The Outlaws and more – spoke about what it was like to make his Hollywood debut in Eternals and the process which led him to being a part of the film.

Train To Busan was a global sensation,” he said. “The people at Marvel watched me in The Outlaws, The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil and Champion and requested me for a casting.”

“After that, I was busy with my life until I received a phone call. It was [casting director] Sarah Finn saying, ‘There’s a character perfect for you in a Marvel movie called Eternals. Come take a look’,” he added, noting that he knew the character of Gilgamesh would be “perfect” for him.

Ma then spoke about how Eternals director Chloé Zhao and Marvel had worked together to modify the character for him. “In fact, Gilgamesh isn’t even an Asian character. They changed the character to suit me,” he said. “They knew that I had boxed for a long time, so they changed the action to hand-to-hand combat. I was really touched that they were so considerate and made the character to fit me.”

Elsewhere during the interview, the actor also touched on what being a South Korean actor in a Hollywood film meant for a global audience. “It’s no longer shocking for an Asian actor to be cast into a Hollywood film,” he said. “But I think my situation is unique because I’m taking on the role of an action hero.”

In other news, Zhao has spoken about why she cast Harry Styles in Eternals. “I kept tabs on Harry since Dunkirk, I thought he was very interesting,” she told Deadline. “After meeting him I realised he is that character – the same way I cast the rest of my cast.”
