It’s time for some good news for veteran actor Tabassum’s fans. The actress, who was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for COVID-19 related complications, has now tested negative for the virus and is back home. Her son, Hoshang Govil, confirmed the same in a statement. It read, ‘With the love and blessings of her fans, Tabassum Govil has tested negative and returned home. She has beaten the Covid-19 virus and returned a warrior… Thank you for your constant support. God is great.’ For those unaware, Tabassum had tested positive for coronavirus a couple of weeks ago. Giving an update on his mother’s health, Hoshang had said, ‘She wasn’t feeling well, her blood pressure was a bit high so we got her tested for Covid-19 and it turned out she was positive. But she wasn’t severely affected. She was asymptomatic. But to be on a safer side, we got her admitted.’ Meanwhile, a picture of a frail-looking Tabassum had been making rounds of late, with people suggesting that she is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, but her son has now quashed any such ‘rumours’. He said, ‘I am disgusted that people can spread her picture and start a rumour that she has Alzheimer’s. This is absolutely fake. She has got no heart disease, no diabetes.’ Tabassum started her career as a child actress in 1947. She later had a successful television career as the host of a highly successful TV talk show. As a feature film actress, she has worked in films like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, ‘Heer Ranjha’, ‘Chameli Ki Shadi’ and her last film appearance was in ‘Swarg’ which released in 1990. Tabassum was among the latest in a string of Bollywood celebrities who tested COVID-19 positive including Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Ashutosh Rana, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Katrina Kaif, among others. While actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, who had earlier tested positive have now fully recovered.
